Description
This module provides an introduction to data in the context of equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI). EDI data can be the source of much contention and/or confusion, usually borne of a need for transparency or fear or the need to protect an organisation’s reputation. By making data central to EDI work, organisations can be more confidently make decisions concerning interventions, individuals and/or groups. This module combines theory with practice through five interrelated elements: Why data matters in EDI work? Attitudes to EDI data. Ethics, Consent and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Risk Mitigation & Management, and Data Modelling. Together, these elements should position anyone leading or using EDI data in their work to be confident to ask challenging questions concerning data, whilst also being comfortable with any discomfort arising from the analyses and/or comparisons of different datasets.
