Press Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: 18 March 2025
Institute for Educational & Social Equity becomes a member of Independent Higher Education
The Institute for Educational and Social Equity (IESE) is proud to announce that membership of Independent Higher Education (IHE). This marks a significant milestone for the Institute, underlining its position as a respected UK independent higher education provider.
Following a rigorous review process, the IHE Board expressed its enthusiasm in welcoming IESE, highlighting the Institute’s clear dedication to its mission and power of education. Board members noted the existing collaborative relationship between IESE and IHE through the Launchpad programme, which they suggest, demonstrates the Institute’s commitment to innovation, impactful leadership, and positive educational outcomes.
A Growing Partnership for Greater Impact
As a member of IHE, IESE will now have greater opportunities to collaborate with other UK independent higher education providers, contribute to sector-wide policy discussions, and advocate for meaningful change in higher education. In addition, IHE membership provides opportunities for the Institute to share its expertise in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) with IHE member organisations
Leadership Reflections
Professor Paul Miller, IESE Director, expressed pride in the Institute’s latest achievement:
“We are incredibly honoured to be welcomed as a member of Independent Higher Education (IHE). This recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team, and it reinforces our commitment to driving systemic change in EDI. By joining IHE, we gain access to a vibrant network of like-minded institutions, creating new opportunities to share knowledge, collaborate on innovative initiatives, and amplify our impact.”
In welcoming IESE to membership, IHE’s Chief Executive, Alex Proudfoot, said:
“We are excited to welcome you into IHE membership and hope you will take the opportunity to get fully involved with the professional communities in our various Networks and Forums, including via the IHE Community, our new online platform via which we communicate with Members and support all of our groups to share information and conversations between meetings”.
